是啊,過去13年KbN不甘於做一個獨立電子音樂團體,愛玩愛嘗試的他們除了到處演出,我們總是可以看到他們的名字出現在不同領域。電影/舞台劇/展覽/各式設計秀...。
而這一次他們要合作的對象,變成了打擊樂團。
"不同的是,這一次KbN不再是單純用音樂詮釋合作對象的意境,而是直接把整個打擊樂團和影像拉進KbN的音樂,自身的蛻變和成長。"
耗費三個月的時間,KbN試圖打破冰冷的電子音樂既定印象觀念,補上即便是live set也容易遺失的現場力道與震撼力。完整兩個SET的時間,除了將近些年KbN的作品全部配上打擊樂,也將打擊樂團自身樂曲轉換為midi訊號,重新編曲演繹純打擊樂。配上即時同步的影像,在耳朵(音樂)眼睛(視覺)身體(力道)三個感官完全照顧到的情況下,想和喜歡音樂的朋友們一起體驗,音樂裡好玩的新事情一直好多好棒。
關於自由擊:
正式成立於2010年11月, 成為台北市立案團隊。
累積十多年打擊樂器舞台表演經驗, 2010首度跨界合作, 以打擊樂器 融合電子音樂為主要表演型態, 結合流行、搖滾、迷幻等不同元素, 試圖展現打擊樂的不同風貌。
曲目皆為自創或委託為本團量身訂做, 是台灣少見的創作型打擊樂 團。

來自加拿大溫哥華的跨界影音兄弟團隊, 不斷鑽研影像, 聲音, 科技及 表演藝術的結合潛能, 從電影, 聲響, 配樂, 視覺藝術, 視覺傳達設計, 動 畫, 數位裝置, 互動科技到VJ即時影像。
自2008年在紐約數位表演先驅Troika Ranch與舞蹈科技表演博士 Henry Daniel指導及合作下, 開啟了與音樂, 舞蹈, 劇團等表演藝術跨 領域的深層合作發展, 也參與了各大藝術節, 展覽, 表演及研究。

答: 從我們是小鬼的時候就開始了, 應該說30年前吧, 就跟kraftwerk操作機(樂)器一樣, 騎腳踏車可以說是一種人與機器的結合, 而且跟音樂很類似的, 騎車也是持續著節奏一直前進, 不斷呼吸, 然後試著不要摔跤.

KbN played the Elysium club in Austin, Texas, on Saturday night, becoming the first Taiwanese band to perform at the South by Southwest music festival.

When Cheer Hsieh (謝青翰) and Chet Liu (劉鎮) formed KbN (凱比鳥) in the late 1990s, they were just another group of guys with another punk band. Now, 10 years, several lineup changes and a major musical redirection later, the group made history when they played Saturday night at the Elysium club in Austin, Texas, becoming the first Taiwanese act ever to play South by Southwest .
"It was awesome to watch your own people playing on the stage so aggressively," said Ho Tai, a Taiwan-born US resident who drove down from Dallas and waved a Taiwanese flag on the packed dance floor during the band's performance. "I felt like I was one of them," he said. "I felt like I was playing on the stage."
Simply getting invited to SXSW, now regarded as the world's foremost rock festival, is a major honor for a young band like KbN. Only one-tenth of the 8,000 bands that applied were accepted to play at the five-day fest this year.
But KbN's participation has added significance because the band is paving the way for other Taiwanese artists to play here in the future. A survey conducted by Austin Co-op Radio found the station's listeners want to hear more independent music from Asia. And SXSW organizers are keen on putting together a Taiwanese showcase next year.
"They're basically starting this connection that will turn into something that's much bigger than themselves," said Nathan Davis, a Taipei-based musician who plays with KbN and organized their trip to Austin. "It's much bigger than just one band coming to play a show at South by Southwest."
KbN was founded by Hsieh, now 25, and Liu, 26, when the two were classmates at the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University (師大附中).
After Bobo Chen (陳映霖) joined the group and dabbling in psychedelic folk, they became an experimental electronica group with the addition of Jerry Fang (方宜正), now 26, and his drum machine in 2000.
The band has survived the departure of several key members, including Liu, and has played at all of Taiwan's major rock festivals. Its music has appeared on compilation albums released by the Ho-Hai-Yan music festival and Taiwanese indie labels White Wabbit and Silent Agreement.
Two years ago, KbN's song Urge (衝動) earned a Golden Horse Award nomination for best original film song for the Hou Hsiao-hsien (侯孝賢) film Three Times (最好的時光).
But their visit to SXSW was only their second trip abroad and their first to a major festival. They played at Elysium on Saturday as part of Japan night, a popular SXSW fixture that tours the US after the festival ends.
"We are going to try to make some connections to bring some other bands from Taiwan next year," Hsieh said on the sidelines of a rehearsal on Wednesday. "I think a lot of Taiwanese bands are way better than us, but we were just lucky to get the chance to come here."
KbN was one of five Taiwanese bands scheduled to play at SXSW this year as part of a planned Taiwanese showcase. The other four bands backed out when it became clear they would not receive financial backing from the government or local cultural organizations. KbN organized several benefit concerts to pay for their expenses and received discounted tickets from United Airlines.
Chen and Hsieh traveled to the US with Davis - Fang's US visa application was rejected - and played shows in San Antonio and at an unofficial South by Southwest showcase, where they were filmed by a local TV station whose reporter introduced them on camera as "the first Taiwanese group to be and perform at South by Southwest."
Taiwanese musician Remi Huang (黃宏駿), 29, who traveled with KbN as a soundman, said the group was ideal for the role.
"Most of the bands in Taiwan really want to say something, but most of the time the things they want to say aren't very interesting. Or they care too much about a particular style of music" he said. "KbN focuses on their music. And they look good, too."
That was certainly the case on Saturday night, when Chen and Hsieh looked comfortable on stage as they layered synthesizer noise and an electric guitar through a keyboard over spare drum 'n' bass-influenced beats. The result sounded unique and avant-garde, but had enough hooks to keep the audience bopping and swaying. At the end of their set, they were joined by Davis on drums, bass player Joe Moody, keyboardist Jimmy Brettell and guitarist Brandon Cobb, for a fuller, funkier sound.
"They didn't seem typical - that's the best way of putting it," said Lee Fraser, who was at the Elysium on Saturday and heard KbN's performance.
Sitting on the club's terrace after the show, as fans approached him to compliment him on his performance, Chen said he was surprised by the enthusiasm and large size of the audience.
Hsieh said he will encourage other underground Taiwanese bands to do their best to participate in SXSW next year.
"We should all come together," he said. "If we have a Taiwan night it would be really fun."

【本報奧斯丁訊】奧斯丁著名兩大音樂節之一的「SXSW音樂節」(South By Southwest Festival )12日到16日將盛大登場,知名樂團R.E.M、魔比(Moby)、愛爾蘭歌手范莫里森(Van Morrison)都受邀表演,台灣也有凱比鳥樂團前來共襄盛舉,這個讓全球樂迷爭相朝聖的音樂盛會,將使奧斯丁六街一帶瘋狂熱鬧多日。
第22屆 SXSW音樂節,參加歌手和樂團共1500人,來自33個國家,他們各自在音樂節指定的70個不同據點演出。擁有廣大樂迷的R.E.M,12日晚上12時在Stubb’s ( 801 Red River St.)演出,預計將引爆高潮。來自台灣的電音搖滾樂團「凱比鳥」(KbN),將於15日晚上9時在Elysium(705 Red River St.)表演,他們的作品Sew Up、Blossom是侯孝賢電影「最好的時光」配樂,Urge是姚閎易導演「愛莉絲的鏡子」主題曲。
擁有「現場音樂之都」美稱的奧斯丁,每年3月的SXSW音樂節,市中心處處可見背著吉他的音樂人,穿梭在各大酒吧與俱樂部之間,許多唱片公司代表和經紀人也會專程來此發掘新秀。
以一首「You're Beautiful」紅遍全球的英國歌手詹姆士布朗特(James Blunt),成名前就是先在這發聲,令不少音樂製作人驚豔。人潮多、氣氛熱,SXSW自然成為樂迷最佳聯誼場所。
去年好萊塢「蜘蛛女」克莉絲汀鄧斯特,便與Razorlight主唱強尼波瑞來此約會,所以樂迷聽歌時請注意左顧右盼,也許大明星就在你身邊。

以堅持得近乎執拗的熱情,我們仍然試圖為心中擁抱的公理正義發聲。
在這個無傷時代,整個世代被集體麻醉,針對性議題一個一個被模糊化、去邊際化,似乎不再是問題、沒有問題。真的沒有問題嗎?這就是我們要做的-刮去粉飾太平的漆牆、讓壁癌怵目驚心地暴露,或許群眾會一下子被嚇得轉身逃離,但批判的距離也將因此被拉開。
「那麼,妳會期待在這樣一齣劇裡面聽到什麼樣的音樂呢?」蔣韜伸過手,讓我分享從他掌心無底洞源源冒出的脆豌豆,他是沉默的電吉他及鍵盤手。
他說,其實導演的音樂喜好跟這齣劇的氛圍原本就很接近,而幾位樂手對於配樂的樣貌也很有共識,因此即使是首次合作,卻也能捕捉著彼此的想像、抓準了那股不熟悉,在「墨綠色加咖啡色」的色調中碰撞出更多說不出顏色、但就是很對味的配樂。
墨綠色加咖啡色,這是蔣韜所想像的配樂基調,但這基調指的並非音樂本身,而是來自於樂手。
他最近突然發現,雖然每天出入在各個不同場合,但這些乍看無關的大小方塊陣,其實有些共通元素隱約牽繫著,並且因為那些元素的存在,你就是會選擇某些地方而不是其他。例如他所喜好的場所總逃不了墨綠色加咖啡色的擺設,這不只是配色的巧合,它隱涉了某種特定文化,被這特定文化所餵養的族群很自然地就是會往某個方向看。
但即使是望向同一方向,也因為每位樂手所處位置、角度的不同,而讓同一物件產生差別,因此音樂並不會淪為無趣的齊聲合唱,反而在似近若遠的想像共鳴中,意象的豐富性就這樣活脫出來了。
木吉他手榆鈞則直截了當地說,「愈簡單、愈有力」。
這齣劇要傳達的理念和訊息很多,而在一齣已經那麼豐富的劇裡,配樂應該要能夠直接、簡單、有力而又深刻。它應該是大地色的,溫暖、又沒那麼鮮豔,但是可以很有力量。
觀眾被打到會覺得痛,痛、那就放聲大哭!
身體的記憶永遠比我們以為的要多得多。
這齣劇究竟能夠實際產生多少作用?說不定就像火柴的亮光,稍縱即逝。但是,它曾經「擦!」一聲真實地發光發熱,或許我們很快就連自己曾經看過這齣戲都不記得了,但我們不會忘記心臟在黑暗中跳動的聲音,以及血液燒灼過皮膚底層的溫度。

無論如何,大都會的另一種魅力,乃是透過它的轉變,我們可以懷舊地回望它的過去……詢問新城比舊城好或差是沒有意義的,因為它們之間沒有關係,就好像舊明信片所描繪的不是模里利亞的過去,而是一個不同的城市,只不過湊巧像這個城市一樣,也叫做模里利亞。
卡爾維諾《看不見的城市:P.44》
第五屆城市行動藝術節以《2007:城市寓言》為主題,寓言或許虛構、或許真實,它企圖回頭去尋找台北城的地根,發掘屬於這個城市的義涵。而城市不只張開時間、空間、事件,它是想像、欲望、記憶、符號、活著與死亡的組合。比如,城市的物理特質在每個小地方留下了刻痕,不著痕跡地訴說著空間的量度與過去事件之間的關係。但城市不是靜止不動,透過它的轉變,符合人們對未來的渴望,這樣的渴望或許延伸自他們面對現實的想像、欲望、恐懼、懷舊與期待的組合。於是,現實的場景與想像的塲景所描述關於未來的投射、想像與象徵,在記憶與遺忘中展開序幕,浮現的不知是歷史場景或是未來世界的場景,或只不過湊巧有著相同名字的城市。
那些流言斐長、熟悉或陌生的臉相、繁華或老舊的街面,臺北城與現實緊密的連繫,它的性格融入我們的日常生活裏,再熟悉不過。但這樣的場景可能是某個大都會的投射!回過頭去追尋這個地方的歷史與傳說,竟感到它的遙遠,這城市的屋舍、街道是什麼模樣?它的輪廓變得模糊,對它的感覺,處在一種距離感與熟悉感的曖昧狀態,倒像是旅者與居民之間的對話,不知是不是在談論同一個城市。
我們必須從這城市的枝微末節尋找它。對準那些隱藏於熟悉事物中的細節,在散落四處的線索中,張開我們的想望,用寓言形式連結相似與不相似的事物,它不講求真確,而是發掘新的認知與了解。
《2007:城市寓言》邀請視覺藝術家楊俊(奧)、朱柏穎、賴俊羽&溫子捷、牛俊強等,進駐建於二十世紀初的臺北啤酒文化園區(原建國啤酒廠),用影像、聲音、音樂裝置從不同的視角回應從九○年代起,歷經無數次的停工與復工的一座城市工廠。從上個世紀初一座啤酒廠延伸到城市,城市---夢想、渴念、欲望…人的理性、非理性交織的實境空間,它有個名字?沒有名字?某個特定城市?叫不出名字的城市?藝術家來到這個城市,熟悉也不熟悉,屬於這個城市的故事在這裡流傳著,似真、似訛。
為了叩合城市行動藝術節的主題《2007:城市寓言》,今年也邀請影音(audiovisual)藝術家作現場表演,結合最具未來感的電子音樂、聲音和數位影像,透過它,隱涉現代科技主導之下的溝通模式與生活型態。命名為「飆動異聲」的影音藝術表演,不只是表演,而是隱然可見新時代的人生課題與信仰,有些東西已經改變了。音樂、聲音作為普遍的語言,聯結數位界面,必然是藉概念作用而刻意產生的,而概念不排除荒謬、矛盾、不和諧等人類情感的真切性,也是以最寬容的反省來表現音樂、聲音語言的內容如何豐富如何富於意義。
參加藝術節的影音藝術家包括克里斯多夫‧卡內里Christof Cargnelli & 班哈蓋Bernhard Gál (奧)、卡樂瑞爾 Colorir(巴西雙人組)、李勁松Dickson Dee (香港)、半野喜弘Yoshihiro Hanno (日本)、一樂儀光Yoshimitsu Ichiraku (日本)、黑川良一 Ryoichi Kurokawa (日本)、崔門Tri Minh (越南),與國內數位影音樂團林強、甜梅號、八厘米天空、氣象人、凱比鳥,及國內著名 DJ和VJ如DJ Zephec、DJ Point、DJ Code、DJ Elvis、VJ AKA, VJ Dolcevita, VJ Dust, VJ Kliff, VJ Rita等。
11月16日至30日,「第五屆城市行動藝術節」將於臺北啤酒文化園區(原建國啤酒廠/八德路2段85號)登場。2006年,曾來台參加《腦天氣》的黑川良一,和林強,也將於開幕夜(11月16日) 同台競技,表演他們最新的數位影音作品。接下來二個周末11月17日、18日及11月24日、25日從下午3時至晚上9時30分,來自日本、香港、越南、巴西、奧地利和國內音像藝術家將陸續登場,用聲音、音樂當作溝通的隱喻,以視覺影像進行詮釋,反思當下數位媒體投射於人們的情感和心理向度。
英國文人蕭伯納有一句名言:「有些人只看見已經發生的事情,並且問為什麼會這樣。我則常常夢想一些從未發生的事情,然後追問為什麼不能這樣。」未來往往是由夢想而來,前景也是,必須大膽、創新、顛覆、超越自己,並且採取行動。也許,搗蛋一下,製造一點混亂,然後,你的視覺會有點模糊,但是,你看到前景,在這座上個世紀初的啤酒廠!

COVOX
Melodic high-energy romantic gameboy pop - influenced by the synth heroes of yesterday Covox brings this electronic love to the present. In 2003 he debuted with a 7
vinyl EP on Swedish label Rebel Pet Set and has since played in Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, etc, with tours in Japan, Holland, United States and Germany.
In June 2005 the debut album "Delete The Elite" was released on Swedish label Socom, which was followed by a special Chinese version released by Beijing-based Shanshui Records.
In October 2006 "Delete The Elite" premiered on the japanese market,
released by Fantabulous Music.
Covox is Thomas Serlund, living in Stockholm, Sweden.
Covox來自瑞典. covox的音樂風格是很幹勁浪漫gameboy流行音樂.受到了很大的前年代電音印象, 他的音樂保留前年代的浪漫感覺. 2003出第一片 7'vynil EP.
表演過在比利時, 義大利, 瑞士, 日本, 德國, 美國, 荷蘭. 2005在瑞典出了第一片album, 稱'delete the elite". 後來在北京的'shangshui records"出了中文版本.
同一個album 2006年10月的時候也出了在日本的 'fantabulous music'.

KTK
KTK is a two-person electonic experimental project from Russia. The band uses various electronic
equipment,8bit gear and misc. electronic junk to produce and mix rough electonic tunes.
KTK was founded in 2005, initially producing and releasing music tunes online, with the
first performances kicking out in 2006.
KTK also is involved in semi-industrial project collaborating with other hardcore/industrial movements.
KTK 是電音前衛性樂團. 項目主要集中於生產實驗性的, idm音樂構成一粗造音質.
在2005年前腦殺樂團的"NullBomb"和"Reduced的Vlado決定主合電音/工業樂團,而組成的KTK是2個人的project.
早期主要創作metal/hardcore/nu-meatl音樂想法跟電音結合.
之後KTK 沉重轉移自己進入electronic/industrial風格.. 結合了一些噪聲, idm, 實驗性的音樂的味道.
兩位KTK 的創建人士來自不同俄國地區. 而在台灣認識的.
兩位在來台之前曾分別在泰國,中亞,俄國等不同區域參與過許多地下電子音樂活動,對亞洲地下實驗電子運動有許多經驗.

KbN
KbN is a 3 people experimental electornic music project from Taiwan, producing an interesting mix
of rythmic electronica, urban indie using wide variety of electronic gear, guitars and synth.
The experimental music group, KbN, rooted in Taipei, was established in 1998. With a simple,
succinct approach they have blazed a tribal in musical style. KbN ’s tract record of playing at indoor, outdoor,
large and small venues, includes Spring Scream, Formoz Festival, Ho-hai-yan music festival,
Undergroud pubs and at the documentary film festival 2004 closing ceremony, etc. The group
has appeared in four compilations to date: I forgot everything, Lobo No.1, Silent Agreement,
the 2002 Ho-hai-yan Music Festival and three Taiwan Films’ soundtracks.

This is a one-man band, but the music also can be played by heavy participation of the audience.
Sonic Deahorse music is the music for lonely urban women and men, for the youths captivated by literature and art, for dumb rockers, and the crazy ravers. It’s the music embracing indulgency of 70s’, melancholy of 80s’, nihilism of 90s’, and isolation of the new century. It is post rock whimpers affecting sorrow violent electro, which is a smart-ass with poor.
“As everything faded away with the booming bass drum of TR808, those who were belonging to the love and ignorance of youth seemed to vanish and be gone with Truffaut’s films. After these indescribable sentiments being extracted, I finally decided to play this band with the full heart.”
Music is the art form that’s simplest and meanwhile most complex.
